Organic Wine Regions
Organic wines, organic grape growing and the regulations governing them vary country by country and even by region. Some countries will have rigorous certification of organic growing, others do not. Whether a wine is a low sulphur wine, a vegetarian wine or vegan will be far more clear cut. Unfortunately, wine producers are not required to list additives on their labels: with some conventional wines this would be a rather long list!
France is a leader on organic wines and more surprisingly vegan and vegetarian wines.
Italy has about 15 wine bodies with differing regulations. All our Italian wines are organic or bio-dynamic and most vegetarian.
South African organic wine producers generally rely on EU regulations. Often their wines will be made using “organic methods” rather than fully certified organic.
In Spain each region will have its own regulations and standards on wines. There are many delicious Spanish organic wines available and at great value.
Organic Wines – England.
We are delighted to be able to offer some delicious wines from the Limney Estate in Sussex. We would like to be able to add some more English wines and show our support for the home industry.
To follow soon: organic wines in Argentina, Australia, Chile, England, New Zealand and USA. We have just a few wines available from South America: certification is somewhat less reliable there! We hope to have some more New World wines available soon.
Each wine type including Organic wines, Bio-Dynamic, Low Sulphur, Vegetarian and Vegan wines can easily be selected in the Online Wine Shop. Wines can additionally be selected by country.
