Description
Brightside Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand
Brightside Sauvignon Blanc displays a lively nose showing ripe stone fruit, citrus and melons. The palate is packed with the same flavours layered on top of a well textured mineral backbone. The result is a mouth-filling and layered wine which balances lively fruit sweetness with crisp acidity.
The fruit for Brightside Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from a mix of all three of their organic-certified vineyards near Nelson on the South Island of New Zealand. As Brightside say about being certified organic: “Our organic commitment means that in the vineyards we use only approved organic methods, and strictly no synthetic herbicides, fungicides and pesticides. Essentially an organic vineyard capitalises on natural methods and patterns to enhance vine health and grape quality in the long term.”
The fruit was hand harvested in April so the equivalent of our October.
Fruit of different ripeness levels and the use of several wine making techniques has developed a level of complexity in the wine. The grower believes this makes for an appealing and intriguing style of Sauvignon Blanc.
Awards/Accolades
“It is beautifully lifted on the nose showing rockmelon, nectarine, lime zest and subtle herbaceous notes. The palate delivers loads of tasty flavours and excellent fruit intensity, leading to a lingering mouth-watering finish. It is generously expressed and immensely likable. At its best: now to 2018.” 90/100, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2016
