Bouchot Pouilly Fume

Bouchot Pouilly Fume 2011 is a beautiful example of this classic: all the racy crisp freshness and fruitiness of a 100% Sauvignon. It has a little weight which makes it different from its neighbour Sancerre. The wines of Pouilly-Fumé maintain a long established claim to have an edge on their Sancerre competitor in terms of style.

There are tastes and aromas of gooseberrys and guavas! They have a  more pronounced smoky aromas than Sancerre and display  hints of musk.  This gives the wines of Pouilly-Fumé certain individuality and sets them apart from their close neighbour. Even though they produce very similar wines from the same grape variety. The predominantly Limestone terrain along with Marl type soils embedded with oysters and flint give the wine it’s characteristic mineral and floral flavours.A very easy to drink wine and being very light in sulphites is easy on you too.

The Domaine de Bouchot consists of 10 ha in Saint Andelain, the heart of the Pouilly sur Loire. The vineyards are Southwest facing and organically farmed. They produce dry, fruity white wines expressing the richness and subtlety of the land.
