Barolo Erbaluna is almost black in colour and huge in flavour. This really is amazing stuff. Coffee and bramble jelly seem to come at you from all directions. Incredible long finish that will almost knock you off your chair. Really needs decanting.
The uniqueness of the Nebbiolo grape lends a distinctly perfumed aroma to the wine.
Barolo is one of the 2 most famous red wines of Italy and at the top in terms of quality. It’s a powerful, intensely flavoured red, from the north west, which is revered the world over. It is a serious wine which should be an unforgettable experience and luxury.
Barolo is a wine region in Piemonte, in the north west of Italy, and lies towards the south of the region, just south east of the town of Alba. It is famous for producing some of the most intense, sumptuous and often expensive red wines of Italy, from the Nebbiolo grape,
Barolo wines must spend a minimum of 18 months in large wooden vats, and a further 20 months in bottle before release.
The high acidity and tannins makes Barolo work well with rich cuts of meat, as an example: lamb shanks, stews and slow braised pork belly.
The region of Alba is famous for it’s white truffles and Piemonte is well known for it’s porcini mushrooms. It is often said that wines go with the food of that region. All sounds like a good time to me!
